This Week...

In Reading we read the book, Happy Birthday, Grampie! We made a prediction about the story before we read, and wrote about our favorite part after we read. We also chose a biography to read and complete a book report on. In Social Studies we learned a little more about the continent of North America. We used an Atlas to find the oceans that touch our continent, and the provinces of Canada. In Science we learned more about butterflies. We learned that they have a proboscis that is used to get nectar from flowers. In Math we have been adding 2-digit numbers with regrouping. It is a very hard concept, but the students have picked it up very quickly! In Writing we have been working on a paper about a special talent we have that makes us special.

The Winter Concert will be on Thursday, December 11th, at 7:00 PM. The children should dress in holiday clothes and should be in the classroom at 6:45.

Our Christmas Pary is planned for Thursday, December 18th from 2:00-3:00. Shelly Beach is coordinating the party for us. She will be contacting the parents who signed up to help with the party at Open House. Thank You, Mrs. Beach!

School-wide Food Drive...Rosalia High School ASB is sponsoring a school-wide food drive. They are asking that each class bring in non-perishable food items this next week. The school (elementary, middle, or high school) with the most food will be rewarded with an ice cream party. Check your pantry for any extra items you might want to donate. All foods collected will be distributed to local families. Thanks for your help and support!

The weather is getting unpredictable. Remember to send your child to school with a warm coat, hat and gloves. We will be going outside unless it is raining.

FAMILY ACCESS INFORMATION

Family Access is a web based program that parents can use to keep track of their student's daily attendance and lunch account. Family Access can be found at http://family.rosalia.wa-k12.net . Call Leslie Gunnels at 523-3061 for your user name and password. You can change your user name and password after you log in for the first time.

Mr. Hudkins, our PE teacher, wants to remind parents that PE will be outside as long as the weather is nice. Please make sure your child wears or brings oustside shoes that they can run and play in. Flip flops and sandals can make it difficult and dangerous. Thank You!

The New Washington State Math Standards require Second Graders to quickly recall basic math facts for sums through 20. We practice at school, but to help your child reach his or her goal, practice with your child often at home, too. Practice while making dinner, standing in line at the store, riding in the car, waiting for the bus...there are lots of opportunities during the day!

Bring them in...We are still colleting Box Tops For Education. Please look for the distictive label and cut out and send in any Box Tops you collect. Thank You!
