| This Week... This week we read chapters two and three in The Long Way to a New Land. We wrote some journal entries from the main characters perspective, we wrote a midpoint prediction, and we wrote about our favorite part of the chapter. In writing we are continuing to work on our Something That Makes Me Special papers. Most students have completed a rough draft and are revising and editing. In Social Studies we are reading maps and learning about globes. In Science we continue to learn about rocks. We sorted a rock mixture last week and labeled the parts this week. We are also completing an investigation on sand. In Math we are adding three numbers. We continue to practice doubles addition facts and near doubles facts. .
It's that time of year when the weather is unpredictable with chilly mornings. Please make sure your child comes to school with a coat and warm shoes. I know how they like to run out of the house without the seasonal essentials. Thanks! Thanks to all the parents who attended our Halloween party and sent items for us to enjoy. A special thanks to Jenna McDonald for coordinating our fun morning! We had a great craft, fun games, and yummy treats. Happy Halloween! Conferences…Conferences will be held November 4 th and 5 th. Thanks to all who have returned conference slips. I look forward to meeting with you to talk about your wonderful children! Don’t forget that daylight savings time ends on November 1 st. We need to set our clocks back one hour on Saturday night. Our latest Star Student is Ashley. Ashley’s favorite color is purple. Her favorite food is pizza, but she doesn’t like spaghetti. Ashley’s favorite book is any Dr. Suess book. Her favorite subject in school is Math, and her favorite animal is a kitten. Ashley likes to watch the TV show, I Carley and her favorite celebrity is Nathan Kress who plays Freddie on I Carley. One place Ashley would like to visit is Alaska to see her uncle. If Ashley could have one wish it would be to have another kitty.. Thanks for sharing your pictures, your book and the yummy treats with us! Just a reminder… Homework Club meets on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week. If you would like your child to attend, please return the blue Homework Club permission slip. If you have any questions, please contact the school. Mrs. Dube would be happy to answer any of your questions. Children who attend will get homework help and a snack. Students may attend each day Tuesday through Thursday, or select days. Students must be signed up to attend. Remember there is no cost for homework club.

Practice while making dinner, standing in line at the store, riding in the car, waiting for the bus...there are lots of opportunities during the day!
